The main difference between industrial surveys and the other surveys is that in most industrial surveys the geo-reference is missing. The measurements generally are object-oriented while it isn’t relevant where the 3D object is located. It is just important that the object meets all requirements. Measurements of objects that may move are the clearest example as such. Eg: in which port a ship resides isn’t important, but whether the ship or not is twisted might be critical. In short, the industrial surveys require a different mindset and approach than land surveying work.
